Comprising a swath of felt and a piano string, Work on Felt (Variation 22) Dark Blue is at once both a sculpture and musical instrument. Stretched across the wall, the material is punctuated by slits that echo the shapes of sound holes found in musical instruments. These openings invite touch: viewers can press into the felt, slide their hands over and inside it, and engage with the hidden strings embedded behind its surface. In channeling the energy between viewer and object, Naama stages an encounter that transforms the sculpture into a site of sonic and bodily potential.
The work was acquired by Hamburger Bahnhof - Nationalgalerie der Gegenwart, Berlin, 2025.
